Landscape plants
The plants are quite valuable for the all kind of landscapes. They have a major influence on climate, air purification, erosion control, noise reduction, and privacy screening. All this increases the property value of the landscape. Also landscape plants are very important to the microclimate. They absorb heat and dust from the air, provide cool shade that reduces solar radiation, lower wind speed, and even disperse fog.
Conducted research revealed that all people have a desire for contact with plants on a basic instinct level. And by satisfying this need a strong positive influence on human behavior could be done. That is why gardening and planting is often included in different rehabilitation programs in hospitals.
But professional landscape planting is and important feature of public and private properties and therefore must be selected, done, and maintained with skill. First thing to consider is the proper plant selection. And the first step in plants selecting is usually based on specific needs that are identified in the landscape plan. A landscape plan is created in order to maximize the landscape investment, meet the needs of noise reduction, climate control, privacy screening, and to satisfy other different objectives. And according to the plan, our plant selection process should consider such factors as adaptability to the soil, exposure to the sun, wind or shade, plant hardiness, plant ultimate size and a whole set of maintenance requirements. Do not forget about such things as plant texture, foliage color, branching habit, amount of fruit and flowers during the specific seasons.
We can distinguish primary and secondary considerations for choosing landscape plants. Among the primary considerations are height, width, form, texture and seasonal interest. If you will not calculate plant size, this may cause you some troubles in future. You should know what size exactly will reach your plant in both outward and upward directions. Between plant forms we may meet round, weeping, vase, oval, creeping, columnar, etc. Knowing this you will know how it will occupy your yard space. Under texture we understand the fineness or roughness of landscape plants. It can also be categorized in terms of leaf thickness and light or dark shade of plants. Do not know whether it is good or bad, but plants with finer textures are often used in greater numbers than plants with coarse textures. Seasonal interest and color are figured by the special features a plant has at different times of the year, like foliage, fruit, flowers, winter color, changing colors, etc. Secondary considerations for selecting landscaping plants are the following: insect and disease resistance, sun or shade resistance, moisture tolerance, drought resistance and of course the soil type.
You may find landscape plants in several common forms - balled, bare-root, packaged and container grown, filed potted and in market-packs. And now all you have to do is to follow simple instructions and create a stunning garden or landscape of your own. I must admit that this is a good alternative for any household occupation you may find.
