After that clear any vegetation from the area where gravel will be placed and dig out soil to a depth of approximately 10 cm (4 inches). Surround the walking path edges with stone, concrete, and even timber, logs or sleepers secured with wooden pegs. Remember that edge should be higher than the surface to stop the gravel spilling out. After that put a layer of hard core surface on the ground so that it could be a firm base for the landscaping gravel. Under the firm base we should understand any of a number of crushed stones capable of being compacted into a suitable, stable base under pavers, foundations and driveways. And that hard core base must be covered with the soft or sharp sand. This will keep hard core away from showing through the top layer in future. And at last - the top layer of landscaping gravel could be placed on the newborn garden path.
