It may serve both for hardscaping and softscaping purposes. There are geodes that are lined inside with some kind of layered siliceous material. It may be of various colors and may contain some clear quartz crystals. As a result - wavy, smooth, crystalline surface effect is achieved. Geodes often make great bookends for all indoor landscapes, and surely can frame any plant in your garden. Thunder egg landscaping stone has very much in common with geodes. They both came from the shell filled with agate. They only thing they are different from geodes in a solid center. This center is a main issue of a great contrast between the brown or dark red rocky shell and the white and clear crystal center.

If you want to get yourself a really unique landscape stone then you should ask special traders. Checking rock shops for some unique finds will not give you many results.
